With the provisional closure dates over the festive season of the Western Cape Deeds Registry, there could be an effect on your property registration and transfer dates, especially if you have requested a specific date for registration.

Here is everything you and your attorneys may need to know about the closure dates and the effects they may have on processing deeds and documents that have been lodged or will be lodged during the festive season. Information below kindly provided by STBB.
- The Deeds Registry will close on Tuesday, 24th December 2024 at 10h00 and re-open on Thursday, 2nd January 2025.
- Any deeds and documents submitted on or before Tuesday, 10th December 2024 will be processed by no later than Thursday, 19th December 2024 for registration.
- Any deeds and documents lodged after Wednesday, 11th December 2024 are not guaranteed to register by Friday, 20th December 2024.
- No cut-off date for lodgements has been specified this year.
- Any deeds and documents ‘on prep’ from Friday, 13th December 2024 must be registered by Friday, 10th January 2025.Automatic rejections will be temporarily suspended until Friday, 10th January 2025.
- The last day for execution for 2024 is Monday, 23rd December 2024. However, it is highly encouraged that conveyancers finalise the registration of deeds and documents by Friday, 20th December 2024.
- There will be no special arrangements for registration from Tuesday, 24th December to Tuesday, 31st December 2024.
